All of the school buildings at the Lancaster City School District were overcrowded, the buildings were not conducive to teaching education in the 21st century, and their facilities were reaching the end of their useful life.
Schorr Architects assisted with their master planning process and through that process the District decided to address their elementary school needs. They passed a bond issue in March of 2012 for the construction of five new K-5 grade schools. The District participated in the Exceptional Needs Program with the OFCC.
Gorsuch West, Mount Pleasant and Tarhe Trails Elementary Schools were completed utilizing the CMR and General Contracting delivery methods and opened for classes in August of 2015.
Medill and Tallmadge Elementary Schools were completed utilizing the CMR delivery method, and were finished in 2016.
We also assisted the District with finding new sites to replace the existing grade 6-8 Jr. High Schools. After the passage of a levy campaign, the District and the OFCC are proceeding with the construction of two new 105,863 SF Jr. High Schools, Thomas Ewing and General Sherman.
The District is participating in the Classroom Facilities Assistance Program with the OFCC.
