Statewide Cabin Improvements Fiscal Year 23-24

Ohio Department of Natural Resources / Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC)

About This Project

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources decided to renovate deteriorated cabins at several Ohio state parks. These cabins were originally constructed between 1940 and 1990. While some cabins had since been renovated, many are original and needed to be upgraded. Schorr Architects has been involved in five project phases (and starting the 6th phase in June 2025):

Fiscal Year 23-24
Complete cabin renovations are underway at Cowan Lake (12 cabins), Dillon State Park (14 cabins), and Pymatuning State Park (5 cabins). Additionally, Pymatuning is undergoing demolition of 9 cabins and new construction of 10 cabins. Lake Hope State Park has 18 cabins designed and 16 under construction with limited exterior, HVAC, interior, and electrical updates, including one for accessibility. Finally, Salt Fork State Park is receiving limited scope roofing overhang and structural repairs on 53 cabins.

Our team developed the prototype cabin design for future ODNR cabin replacements. Pymatuning State Park is the first state park to receive the new design.
