About This Project

This project was constructed primarily of concrete masonry units and heavy timber roof framing. The project emphasis was on low maintenance and sustainable materials. This project featured drip irrigation and a private sanitation system.

Low maintenance features include the use of:

  • Indirect lighting (in chase to avoid vandalism)

  • Concrete block walls

  • Glass block windows

  • 40 year warranty shingles

  • Concrete based exterior siding

Sustainable features include the use of:

  • Daylighting controller sensors

  • Skylights

  • Recycled content wall insulation

  • Low VOC paints and stains

  • Recycled content toilet partitions

  • Waterless urinals

  • Soy based concrete curing treatment

  • Sustainable Forestry Initiative Program for wood framing
