About This Project

This renovation of and addition to a small historical firehouse for the City of Columbus was a study in zoning, historical, civic, and neighborhood procedure. The needs and desires of numerous boards and groups were satisfied while adding four apparatus bays, 21 dorm rooms, and a new kitchen. A total of 14,658 SF was added to the existing building’s 3,452 SF.

Renovations included:

  • Window, masonry, and door replacement
  • Updated kitchen
  • Fitness Room
  • ADA restrooms
  • Interior finishes, including flooring

The exterior of the existing building was rehabilitated to reflect its original condition. The detailing of the exterior building and fixtures and new landscaping maintain the residential feel of this Clintonville neighborhood. The building remained in full operation during construction. The project was completed on time and was within the budget. There was over $73,000 left in the construction contingencies.
