Five New School Buildings
Whitehall City Schools / Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC)
About This Project
We worked with Whitehall City Schools on their $57 Million bond program. Our services included bond planning, bond campaign support, design, construction documents, bidding and construction administration.
The project consists of (5) new buildings constructed on the existing school sites: Whitehall-Yearling High School, Rosemore Middle School, Beechwood Elementary School, Etna Road Elementary School, and Kae Avenue Elementary School.
The existing High School was demolished in phases and a new 3-story High School was constructed. The traditional design complements the community’s new main street improvements.
Key educational features of the new High School include the following:
STEM Labs: These cutting-edge spaces are creative, collaborative laboratories for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They support an inquiry-based educational approach— fostering a “learner”/”mentor” environment compared to the traditional student/teacher relationship.
Interactive Walls: An extended learning area is located in every classroom wing. Students have a variety of tools to work with - either as an individual or as a group. This includes a projection area, a variety of group seating areas, computers, display cases, and an erasable “writing wall” for group planning.
