Haning Hall Renovations

Schorr Architects performed (4) separate projects at Ohio University’s Haning Hall. These projects included interior renovations, ADA restroom renovations, a roof replacement and an elevator upgrade.
Interior renovations included renovations to an original 1912 construction building to update interior finishes to reflect the original early 1900s era construction. A total of 15,000 SF was renovated over (3) floors of the building. The building remained in operation during construction.
ADA restroom renovations involved the demolition of the existing first floor restrooms, including all hazardous materials abatement and the construction of new Men’s and Women’s restroom facilities. The new layout arrangement provided for an additional break room area on the west side. The size of the project was 700 SF.
The roof replacement involved the removal of a single-ply roof system and insulation and install single-ply roof system. At the sloped roof adjacent to this low sloped roof, the existing clay tile roofing system was removed, new insulation and a standing seam roof was installed. The size of this project was 8,000 SF.
The elevator upgrade project involved the design of a new three stop hydraulic elevator. Stairwells were also modified to include areas of rescue assistance. The size of this project was 300 SF.
